West Bengal Public Service Commission has successfully completed conducting the West Bengal Civil Services (WBSC) preliminary examination. The candidates who applied for various civil service posts attended the preliminary examination conducted by the WBPSC. The Commission will announce the result of the West Bengal Civil Services (WBCS) Preliminary Examination on the official website of the Commission. The West Bengal Civil Services (WBCS) Preliminary examination is conducted to filter the number of candidates qualified to appear in the Main examination which will be conducted by the Commission followed by the preliminary exam result. The list of candidates who clear the preliminary exam will be allowed to take the main examination.

Thereafter based on the marks obtained in the main examination,  the candidates will be invited for other steps in the recruitment process such as document verification and interview which will be notified by the Commission. The candidates who come out successful in all these steps will be placed in civil services departments coming under 4 groups.

The Commission will also release the cut-off marks of the preliminary examination during the publication of results. The cut-off mark is the minimum mark to be scored by the candidates to qualify for the preliminary examination. After every examination, the candidates will eagerly wait to know the cut-off marks for that year. The candidates who score more will be allowed to attend the main examination.

The cut-off mark will be determined by the authorities after considering various factors such as the total number of participants, number of vacancies, maximum marks obtained by the candidate etc…
